>>BIOGRAPHY<<

Emily Thomas married Monsieur Jocard Peck in a fit of rebellion, he married her in a fit of social climbing, and the two of them have spent the rest of their lives living with the result.

Emily was a young woman in New York from quite a substantial amount of money that was renowned as something of a party girl during her years at Brown. Jocard was a young French immigrant fresh off the boat who took the opportunity to pretend to significantly more money than he had, finding work at a tailor's and borrowing the suits in his spare time. The pair of them met on Spring Break, got wildly drunk one night at the bar of her lavish hotel and spent the rest of the night in bed. In the morning they eloped and realized, after the wedding, that they knew absolutely nothing about one another. It was from this that something impressive came to be.

Jocard, for all his pretension, really was an exceptional businessman looking for some capital and, given the opportunity by Emily's grudging family, made the best of their investment through hard work and a keep sense for investment capitalism. If Emily was bored stiff by the whole thing and mostly just wished her handsome husband would come home and bed her already, she was enraptured by the fairy-tales he quickly came to concoct about his daily routine to keep her engaged, and the pair of them set to the comfortable life of a pretend couple. They split during the day, Emily to do whatever it is she felt like entertaining herself with at the time while Jocard worked and built a name for himself, before meeting at home and pretending they were the model couple. The string of affairs on either side went completely unnoticed--the steady rise to wealth and prestige similarly so. In their minds they had both always been wealthy denizens of the heady roaring twenties and having it be true only confirmed their suspicions.

By the time Eleanor was even a bump in her mother's nightgown it was far later than either of them expected to be bringing a child into the world--half-hearted attempts during whole-hearted copulation had left them with nothing to show for it, so when miss Emily found herself unexpectedly ill in the mornings the couple was filled with a dubious joy. They had, at last, conceived.

Of course, having a child and having anything to do with it were two different things. Emily found it much harder to drink and smoke with her friends all day with a baby in tow and Jocard had bigger things to worry about than a squalling infant. A series of nannies were appointed, eventually found unsatisfactory or unattractive and replaced before Emily finally broke down and confessed to her husband that she thought they ought to be spending more time with the now-toddler. It was then that Jocard was beginning to invest in Ryan Industries and found himself on the ground floor of the most exciting (and potentially rewarding) investment of his life. Throwing himself in deep enough to finance at least one of the massive towers himself, he arranged for a suite for the three of them and booked one of the first available bathyspheres to enjoy his well-deserved rewards.

Emily, for her part, has known little life outside of Rapture.
